A Hybrid SiF2022

The 12th International Conference on Structures in Fire (SiF 2022) is hosted by PolyU in Hong Kong. The conference is organised by Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering with the support from Faculty of Construction and Environment.

The main focus of the SiF series of conferences is to provide an opportunity for researchers, practitioners and engineers to share and discuss their research related to structures in fire with their peers in an open, international forum. Research should include fundamental work that progresses the understanding and application of performance based structural fire engineering as well as technological developments and case studies.

SiF2022 adopted a hybrid mode including online and in-person presentation at PolyU for broader access and the registration fees of two tiers are offered. We would like to thank all the in-person and online delegates of SiF2022 and all the speakers presenting their fascinating work. We are grateful for the support form SiF Steering Committee, SiF2022 Local Organising Committee, SiF2022 Scientific Committee, and all the SiF2022 volunteers!

Getting Here

No Hotel Quarantine Required!

You can take any flights to Hong Kong International Airport. Then you can take a shutter bus, or taxi, or airport express line to Hung Hom. You will subject to an Amber code in the first 3 days.

You can simply take a Hong Kong Taxi to PolyU (香港理工大学) from the Airport (approx. 300 HKD) or other places. Check the map below with locations of PolyU campus and recommended hotels.

You can take various metro lines (Eastrail, Westrail) to Hung Hom station and enter PolyU campus at Exit A. From the airport, you may take Airport Express Train to Kowloon and then take a taxi to your hotel.

Notice for Travelling and Catering

Unfortunately the current quarantine rules in Hong Kong while allowing incoming travelers to go directly to their homes or hotels from the airport, do restrict them from entering public eating places until they are cleared after 3 nights. Entry to supermarkets and shops selling ready meals and groceries etc are allowed and takeaways can also be ordered from restaurants through online meal delivery services.

We have been discussing this issue in the local committee and suggest that if the delegates arrive a few days earlier than the conference, they may be free of the restrictions. However we have decided that we will provide boxed breakfast and lunch to delegates and only the conference banquet will be communal. If delegates arrange to arrive on the 28th of November they should be free of the restrictions by the morning of the 1st of December (after 3 nights) and should be able to join the banquet.

Furthermore, the local committee and our student volunteers will be available to help delegates deal with this issue and all of us would like to maximise attendance to the conference as much as possible given the unique opportunity it offers of direct interaction with international peers.

The weather of Hong Kong is nice recently, and the temperatures are mostly around 20oC.
